Six Athletes to be Honored on January 20
On Saturday, Jan. 20, the Wilkes community will celebrate the outstanding achievements of the 25th class of Wilkes Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. Wilkes’ rich athletic history shines with this group of athletes. Click on the name of each inductee to read more about their outstanding athletic accomplishments.
Denise Carson '92 was a three-sport standout for Wilkes, and starred for the basketball, softball and soccer teams during her four years in the Navy and Gold. Barry Gold '68 continued the fine legacy of Wilkes wrestlers as a two-time college All-American, two-time MAC finalist, and finished his career with a 23-5 dual match record. Laurie Agresti Mirra '07 dominated at the conference and regional level, and her performance in the circle remains a legacy at the national level to this day; she finished her career as one of the greatest strikeout pitchers in the country in NCAA Division III. Anthony Serafin '07 proved to be one of the best defensive linemen helping lead the team to a 33-11 record over his four-year career; he was a member of the 2006 team that finished undefeated in regular season play capturing the MAC Championship and a win in the NCAA Tournament. Jason Turner '96 was a key contributor in the middle of back-to-back berths into the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight as well as a MAC Championship in 1996. In two years with the program, Turner totaled 987 points, 593 rebounds, 84 assists, 102 steals and 89 blocked shots.
We will celebrate these athletic achievements with a ceremony in the Marts Gym. Can't attend the ceremony? We're broadcasting it live for the first time! Click here for more details
